The McMahon Services team has delivered the building division’s biggest ceilings and linings project yet. Commissioned by Thiess to supply and install ceilings and linings for Liebherr’s new $80 million HQ in Para Hills West, South Australia, and the crew completed the major fit out – working against the clock to complete the job.
The extensive project, for the supply and installation of ceilings and partitions at the 30,000 square metre facility covered a three-storey new office building, two new warehouses, a security house and ancillary buildings at the site.
Doors and hardware provided by the client were also fitted during the six month fast-tracked assignment, which the McMahon Services team worked around 9,920 hours to deliver.
Given the sheer scale of the project and the multiple work fronts, the crew relied on in-house single and double mobile scaffolds, as well as four Elevated Work Platforms to complete the fit out. In line with Thiess’ work health and safety policy, they also used additional dust control measures at the site. These included a special dust extractor when cutting MDF and a designated MDF cutting zone.
The McMahon Services team installed around 8,700 square metres of ceilings and wall linings along with approximately 5,250 square metres of wall insulation and 2,500 square metres of ceiling insulation. Around 90 square metres of perforated plasterboard and 1,200 square metres of ceiling grid tiles were also included in what was one of the largest ceilings and linings projects in the State this year.
