Soil remediation and bulk excavation works preparing former Balfours Industrial precinct for apartment development works.
After completing major demolition works at the former Balfours Industrial Precinct, McMahon Services began extensive basement works in preparation for the construction of the Gallery and Altitude Apartment buildings, as part of The Precinct Development.
The basement works included the complete soil remediation of the previously contaminated site and bulk earthworks.
Due to the limited available stockpile area on-site, the suspected contaminated material was transported directly to a licenced waste facility for further environmental testing and clarification prior to disposal.
McMahon Services ensured contaminated soils were appropriately segregated into contamination types (i.e. contaminated and clean soil) during the excavation phase prior to transport, with all works carried out in strict accordance with a tailored remediation action plan to minimise the spread of contamination.
