Project Overview
Civil works included asphalt road, carparks and concrete kerbing construction, stormwater installation and landscaping.
McMahon Services were engaged by Built Environs Pty Ltd to deliver the civil works component of the Worldpark Adelaide commercial subdivision development at Richmond, Adelaide.
Initially the site was bulk excavated which included the testing, classification and off-site disposal of the excavated spoil. The site was then formed to levels over the durationĀ of the project. Civil works included the construction of the asphalt road network and carparks, undercroft asphalt carpark, spray seal carpark, concrete kerbing and driveway crossovers, hydroseeding, retaining wall and main building waterproofing and paved cafe plaza area.
An extensive stormwater system, designed to meet Greenstar requirements, was installed surrounding the development. This included 8 side entry pits, 12 junction boxes, over 600 metres of stormwater pipe installation including culvert road crossings, over 300 metres of landscaped swales lined with geofabric and a retention pond. In the plaza area, a series of pits and ACO drains with stainless steel grated linear inlets were installed with pipes directing captured water to the retention basin.
Contractors worked simultaneously to complete various stages of the development. This required weekly programming and constraints meetings to coordinate works delivery. Overall this project was completed smoothly and practical handover to client was achieved on time.
